“Freedom is not given — it is won.” — Subhas Chandra Bose The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great pride and patriotic fervour at Jesus and Mary Convent School on 15th August 2025 in the school auditorium. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag by our esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Tanmay Roy, a distinguished surgeon with over 30 years of service in the medical field and by Fr.Joseph Rodriguez. This was followed by a floral welcome extended to them by our Reverend Father Principal.

The cultural program commenced with a heartfelt speech highlighting the significance of Independence Day. It was followed by a series of vibrant performances, including dances and skits that depicted Operation Sindoor, the arduous struggle for freedom from British rule, and the immense sacrifices made by our brave freedom fighters. A moving patriotic poem further stirred the audience’s emotions.

Dr. Roy addressed the gathering with an inspiring message, emphasizing how India is steadily progressing and reminding students that the true tribute to our freedom fighters is to contribute to the nation's development. His thoughts were echoed by the Principal in his own motivating speech.

The celebration also recognized excellence in sports, with students who had excelled in various events receiving certificates and medals. The efforts of the sports teachers were acknowledged and appreciated as well. The highlight of the day was the Inter-House Patriotic Singing Competition, where all four houses showcased their musical talents in celebration of India’s spirit and unity. The event concluded with a warm vote of thanks delivered by the Staff Secretary, followed by the soulful rendition of the National Anthem, bringing the memorable celebration to a proud and dignified closure.
