75th Independence Day celebrations Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Jesus and Mary Convent School, Greater Noida celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day on a grand scale befitting the historic milestone. Retd IAS and former Union minister K J Alphons graced the occasion and participated in the celebrations that filled everyone with pride and patriotism. The programme started with the hoisting of the Tricolour by our chief guest K J Alphons Retd IAS and Member of Parliament. The occasion was also graced by the sisters of Brahma kumaris. A plethora of cultural programme were presented by the students with lots of enthusiasm. The foot tapping Music of the patriotic songs filled the audience with patriotism. Prizes of various competitions won by our at zonal levels - Football and Yoga were also given during the celebrations to felicitate the team members. The main attraction of the day was a political satire that was presented by the students to make the audience realize that though we are celebrating 76th year of India’s independence are we really Independent in the true sense? The skit left every one thinking that it is the duty of all Indian now to fight the social issues that are creating rift among us and only then we can achieve true independence. The tiny tots of Pre-primary section dressed as different freedom fighters presented slogans of the great leaders and patriotic songs .The tiny tots won the hearts of the audience with their cuteness. Speaking on the occasion Chief guest K J Alphons appreciated the students for presenting the wonderful program and urged them to always pursue a dream. He also made the students realize that they are fortunate to be born in a country that is free …However there are lot of challenges like poverty, price rise, illiteracy which we need to remove to attain true freedom. Various competitions were also organized among the students on the occasion. The vote of thanks was proposed by Head Boy Shivam Shukla.
